The lawn is ready. The mower isn't.
The petrol routine, step by step
The lawn is ready. The mower isn’t.
The grass doesn’t care whether there’s fuel in the tin or whether the cord starts on the first pull. But on a petrol mower, that routine comes before you cut a single strip.
1
Count the steps before the first strip
Fetch the fuel tin, check the fuel and oil, set the choke or prime it, then pull the cord, and maybe pull it again. None of it cuts any grass.
2
Petrol doesn’t keep forever
Fuel left in the tin or the tank for months can go stale, and stale fuel is a common reason a mower won’t start when the grass takes off again in spring.
3
The pull cord has the final say
When the engine doesn’t catch, you pull again. Then check the choke, and pull again.

Battery power skips the petrol stages
No petrol, no oil, no mixing and no fumes. You charge the batteries like a phone, clip one in and press the start button. The kit comes with two 21V batteries, each good for roughly 30 to 40 minutes, so you can swap halfway.
5
And it does the edges too
The same tool switches modes to trim and edge, so the job after the mowing doesn’t mean a second machine. It does one mode at a time.
The fix
Clip in, press, mow
- Charge. Charge the batteries like a phone.
- Start. Clip one in and press the start button.
- Mow, then switch modes. Mow the open grass, then trim and edge.
Honest note: charging still takes a little planning, and the lawn still needs its usual check for sticks and stones before you start. It’s made for suburban yards. For acreage, a ride-on makes more sense.
